What have we done lately?

  • Have you seen our Peace Flags? With the help of Ms. Stabnick in Art, kids in grades 1, 3, and 5 created these fluttering messages of peace. Click the picture below to see the album.

  • We joined R&S clubs in Natick for the International Day of Peace, on September 21. We helped them fly beautiful giant peace doves.

What is Roots and Shoots?

The Roots & Shoots program, founded by Jane Goodale, is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment. And it all starts with you! With tens of thousands of young people in almost 100 countries, the Roots & Shoots network branches out across the globe, connecting youth of all ages who share a common desire to help make our world a better place. This powerful, youth-driven network fosters a fun, flexible and supportive environment where young people and adults alike come together to share ideas and inspiration, implement successful community service projects and participate in special events and global campaigns.

What is S.E.E.D.?

We are a team that seeks to shine an environmentally-oriented spotlight on everything that Sprague School does. How can we make our school more green? Join us to help!

A letter from Phyllis and Jen:

After a great start last year to our green and sustainable efforts, we are looking forward to turning it up a notch this year. We will try to take a look at everything we do through green glasses in an effort to be kinder to our planet. We will be teaching earth friendly behaviors through practical activities such as reducing the amount of paper and plastic we use and increasing the amount of recycling. In addition, we are working to increase the number of walk/bike to school days, decrease idling in car line, decrease waste in the cafeteria, and have more sustainable fundraisers. Our goal is to inspire the students and the entire Sprague community to make a positive impact on our environment. Any parents with other ideas or willing to get involved should feel free to contact Phyllis Theermann at
phyllis@theermann.com or Jennifer Looper at jen.looper@gmail.com.

Thanks for making Sprague even greener!
Tread lightly,
Phyllis and Jen
