Introducing Isaac’s Team

We hope you will consider joining us in the effort toestablish our new committee, Isaac’s Team.  We envision Spraguefamilies reaching out a helping hand to Sprague families in times of illnessand need.  Provide a ride to school or to an activity, a meal for thefamily, a playdate for the kids, a supporting ear, a comforting hand…What can we do to share of ourselves and aid others within our community?

Isaac’s Team is in honor of our school namesake, IsaacSprague V.

  • He was considered the most influential figure in Wellesley’s civic development, serving on many town committees and as a Selectman.  He was respected for his creative ideas and love for the town.
  • He donated the land for Sprague School, as well as the sites for the Hills Branch Library, the Friendly Aid Society, and a park on Seaver Street.
  • He gave the bell and clock tower for our school.  The wrought iron lantern hanging in the main entrance on Oak Street honors the five School Building committee members, including an image of a book on one facet for Isaac Sprague, a supporter of public education.

Isaac Sprague died in 1934 and was recalled as “simplein taste; powerful in good influence; strong in the fear of God; charitable inthe weakness of others; he is gone – yet liveth.”  Join us inthis new service endeavor.  We hope Isaac’s Team will echo the generosityand the community devotion of our school namesake.

Our chairpersons are Kristen Weiss <kristen.itheewed@comcast.net> and Suzanne Fletcher <suzanne_fletch@yahoo.com>
